Unusual Assignment

Today as i was being a good little student... trying to get ahead in my online class i came across this assignment...

Assume you have a corner lot with a green, beautiful new lawn. But it is so attractive that the neighborhood children cut across the lawn, wearing down a path at an angle across it. Brainstorm and submit 25 different ways you could employ to preserve the beauty of your lawn and keep kids from cutting across your property. You may not injure any children.

I could not help but laugh. and think of my mother and my aunt Shawn.
If you know these two women..this assignment was not hard for me as i just pictured in my head what they would do. Huston kept asking me why i was laughing out loud at the computer.

Summer...

Our conversation went like this the other night...

K: By the time we are done with school, we wont even know what summer is anymore. Why didn't we take time off this summer and sublease our apartment and move home and go camping all the time and see our families and friends?

H: Well we had a week off, and we get one off in September? Isn't that a good summer?

K: Not the same..Im talking 2-3 months off, No work, No School, Nothing!

H: Dream on Sister! That wont exist again until we have children. Even then it wont be the same because ill be working.

K: Awesome. Growing up is Awesome.

H: Laughs his head off.

I guess you had to be there, but my husband thinks its funny that i live in a dream world sometimes. But really, what happened to those old fashioned summers? Was i spoiled by getting to spend summers dirty from fishing trips, camping with cousins, going 4-wheeling, riding horses, and playing night games until midnight with at least 20 cousins who all lived within seconds away? What happened to those days??

Im ready to be done with school. Im at a point, where i can see the finish line, but its like an illusion, its not really there. Oh September, i hope you come quick. One week is short, but it will do. I need a break!

Doctor Visits

Huston was a sick boy last week.High fever and sore throat.. Of course he refused to go to the doctor. but finally feels better ....
He now has swollen traps(muscles surrounding the neck), and a very stiff neck. He is taking a weights class, and we think he pulled a muscle. His teacher told him he needed a dr. note so today he finally went in to the doc.

Now he has to take a muscle relaxer and have a massage 2 times a day... (Although the doctor did not put that in writing therefore im not sure ill fall for that one;))

Thats not even the best part... one of the blessings of being married and swapping saliva entails that wife gets sick as well. I have had a low fever, sinus headache, sore throat, and itchy itchy watery eyes for about 3 days now. Today i went to the doctor as well for what was supposed to be a cold... and i ended up getting 3 moles removed..(2 of which were growing).. 3 stitches (because my doctor doesnt freeze moles off, he cuts them off) and 2 in-grown toe nails cut out. Im one lucky gal?? Why not just kill all birds in one stone??

What a day... haha- When it rains it poors ill say!? We have managed not to visit the doctor in a year and a half since we have been here, and ill say he knows us both pretty well now!

Tourist for a Day

I was looking forward to The 4th of July all week because it was just about both of our only days off from school and work in almost a year. Both being the key word there.

We were pretty excited. Not to mention, even more excited to get to spend the day with my cousins Shawna and Derek who were on the island for 10 days. They had not had the chance to venture out of Waikiki yet so we got up early that morning, picked them up.... Hiked to Maunawilli Falls, played in the water and then ventured over to North shore where we live. We had a blast with them all day. We ate many of the great treats Hawaii has to offer like fried banana, fresh coconut, shrimp, shaved ice, and coconut banana bread with ice cream. We also rented paddle boards and kayaks, stopped at turtle beach, ate at Kahuku Grill and attempted to catch a great firework show but only saw 5 minutes of it.
Oh well, whats the 4th of July without Fireworks right? At least we saw some!

It was a long day but well worth it. It was practically a little mini vacation for us too, it had been a while since we had been able to venture the island for a day like that. We really did feel like tourists again!

I LOVED every second of catching up with my cousins and getting to spend time with them. I have so much family i never get to see, and they are some of them so it was a great day.. even if all my memories of them were as a child. Like how i stayed at their house when i got the chicken pox, and how Derek used to always do "magic" tricks for us kids and his impersonations from Aladdin. I think he may have been a little embarrassed when i asked him to do it for old time sake. Haha. Family is such a wonderful connection. Im grateful for cousins, aunts, uncles, of all generations in my life.

Paddle Boarding
Kayaking

I think he was a little excited!??

So was i apparently..haha
I hope my mom remembers the dog is not invited to their trip to Hawaii.
Whenever someone was charging me to knock me off i would go to my knees!d
totally got the hang of this.
"The Sidewalks"

Hiking was the best way to start the morning
followed by the best shrimp on the island.

treasure...

This past week i had a lesson in my Book of Mormon class on record keeping, and writing in a journal. Something that i am not always very good at. I need to get better. Anyway, Today.. I logged into my old email address and realized i had 2 whole years of journaling under my belt. They were letters/emails. To and From....Huston who served a mission for our church in Germany for 2 years and who is currently my husband.

As I thumbed through the emails I kept thinking, what a treasure these are and will be. I never thought of them as a journal before.. but they truly are. My goal is to print them all out and put them in a binder.

It was fun to take a trip down memory lane...although i definatly have to say that sleeping next to Huston every night is alot better than writing him and email religiously every Sunday night for 2 years.

I cant believe where time has taken us. Huston has been home from his mission longer than when he was gone.I am so grateful for the way everything worked out. Heavenly Father knew what he was doing and blessed me with a wonderful companion. I think we always knew we would end up together because of the instant connection we had, it is just neat to actually be living the life that we had always talked about late at night on the phone, way back when my dad would make me hang-up because i was already over my cell minutes for the month, or because i had school (high school) the next morning and it happened to be 1am. At 17 years old, call me crazy...but i knew i was going to marry this man, and thankfully i did. I have never been so sure of anything in my entire life than the decision i made to marry him.

(that in which i am sure ALL of you married people can relate)

Guess??

Watch this commercial, but try to guess what it is for!???
I thought it was brilliantly funny.

Someday....

someday seems to be my favorite word lately...

Anyway, lately Huston and I have been talking about when we are graduated and move back home. We want to buy a house.

Now something that I have learned... almost always the hard way....is that the Lord's plan is always different than YOUR plan. Therefore, who knows when this will happen. so we stick to the word "someday"

SOooo...we went to Target the other day for the first time in a LONG time and i was in Heaven. I love their HOME section. I got a little carried away with ideas. There was more Yellow there than i could have ever imagined (I love Yellow) However, you must understand that the space i have to decorate "today"...is very limited. We have very close living quarters. SPACE is definitely scarce. As i was walking the isles of Target telling my husband we need this and this and this and this...(haha) not an exaggeration, he finally says to me.. " Where in the world are we going to put all of this??" .. Oh ya!?? That never really occurred to me. Therefore we left the store with nothing, again sticking to the word "Someday" (see the pattern that is developing??)

So maybe i was coveting. Judge me.

Anywho, i was able to make a compromise (another patterned word developing in my life, i may or may not like)  with myself, and instead of spending tons of money or making my husband rearrange all 10 square feet of our apartment,  I was feeling risky and painted my toenails bright green and shaved my legs. For now, that is as crafty as it gets.
