It was a great excuse to craft, and i had alot of help from my neighbor and some of the gilbert girls..! .. here are some of my favorite pages we worked on... Its all finished and i shipped it out already, in order for it to be home on time!!

I love projects like these. too bad its not cheap or i would do it ALLLL the time!

Dearest Oahu

Dear Oahu,

If you could just do me 3 favors...

1. Get a Hobby Lobby on this island
2. and a Cade Rio, Olive Garden, along with Inn and Out Burger, and Neilson's frozen custard..oh and also...
3. make flying home just a bit more affordable so we could go home or visit friends whenever we wanted, or in that case make living HERE more affordable so family could join us....

You would earn yourself the upgraded title of "Paradise" rather than the "ROCK".... but until then.. ill bask in your sun rays, and enjoy your beautiful mountains, and snorkeling spots.

love,

Kilie

New Goal.

New GOAL: FASTING!

This sunday was our fast sunday due to ward conference and stake conference.... however being the ever so faithful saints that we are, we FORGOT and Huston made awesome oatmeal pancakes with pear syrup. It was SOOO good. and we invited our neighbors over to eat with us, and they ever so kindly declined due to the fact that it was Fast Sunday. OOPS!! haha...

They ended up just coming over to say hi, and not eating..as we tempted them to eat our obviously delicious food they politely said " we actually really need the blessings right now, we are trying to figure out where to go next in our life... because graduation is coming sooner than we think."

umm... Well... nothing like feeling shut down!! How could we not respect that?? haha, but it then occurred to us, we need to start fasting. It shows our heavenly father we are willing to sacrifice for his blessings. It also made us realize that fasting is a vital principle of obedience we need to start following.

so, one of our new... new years resolutions is, FASTING...not just on fast sunday, but when we are in search for answers, and blessings. THank you neighbors for being good examples.

CTR

A few days ago... this was my little sisters facebook status...

"My Day tommorow:
Get up at 4:40 AM for baptisms for the dead,
Then going home and taking a shower,
then going to school at 7:30
Then After school a lesson at 4:00 PM
The at 6:45 PM Dance Festival Practice!!
WOW CRAZY DAY!!"

I just thought to myself... umm... would i have gotten up at 4am to do baptisms before school??? and then go to school when i was her age???... Try... NOT!! i would probably have preferred to go on my own later in the day...like after school! but then where does the sacrifice in that come in?? haha... and i commented on the status telling her she is so grown up, and her response was "I love it, its Fun!" ... simply stated, ITS FUN TO DO THE RIGHT THING!!!!! Readers, just keep that in mind!!

What an example she is to me! I have the best FAMILY! ... Literally. My brother and sister continue to amaze me at the kind of people they are becoming. I know growing up in this era it is not easy to do the right thing. I hope my kids are like them!!

History Midterm...

Remember that one class i complained about??>. History... because of the teacher?... Well.. maybe here is why i complained about her and the class... 171 question midterm study guide. Finished it in about 6 hours total. All last night and this morning i have put all my time and energy into studying/finishing the packet. All i have to say is i better ACE this flipping midterm. oh ya, and i cant wait until i actually start taking social work classes. this gen. ed stuff is killing me.

Crafting.....

Huston is such a good sport. Crafting is always something i have enjoyed. I havent been able to do it in a while because we are poor. haha.. I used to scrapbook all the time at home, and i dont think Huston realized how much time/$$$/effort/more $$ it took. haha.

After searching FOREVER to find a craft store on this ROCK(Oahu) we came across a store very similar to what would be a MICHAEL's back home. I was in HEAVEN!!

We needed to find this store because i was in search for embelishments for my cousin's wedding sign in book. Since we cant be there, i wanted to make and send them, thier sign in book..(I made my own, and loved it)! plus it was an excuse to scrapbook and craft again. something i enjoy, more like LOVE doing.

the funny part of this story is we walk into the store and Huston says ok we are not spending more than $20 here. I laughed and continued my shopping. haha.. $42 later, we were on our way home with everything i needed. Which honestly isnt bad, i could have spent much much more!

All of the things we baught were not just for my cousin, YA RIGHT! i figured i would do up somethin of my own since i was in the craft mood, and we had everything right before our eyes! I had so much fun.

Above photos are of the pastel easter wreath i made for our door, and page one of the sign in book for my cousin!! (taken on my phone, sorry for crappy quality)

i think i call this hobby a guilty pleasure! I cant wait until someday when we are much older and wiser (RICHER) when i can craft whatever i want, when i want! haha...and for our HOME!! ......someday..... someday.

Its a small world ....

So..as i was improving my blog stalking skills... ;) i recently saw this picture on a couple in our ward's blog.

Two of these boys were my friends up at NAU. Nate(glasses) and Ryan. one was even my hometeacher almost the whole time i was living in Flagstaff. turns out they are visiting the Bridges here in Hawaii and.. They stopped by the other night to say hello and to catch up. We had all been adventure/volleyball buddies. i didnt know them THAT well, but it was nice that they came to say hi, and we all caught up on our lives and discussed our mutual friends lives as well, which was alot of people suprisingly. These guys are genuinely very good people, and i appreciated the time they took to stop in and visit with Huston and I!

I just find it random that they are in Hawaii stayin in the apartment just downstairs from us. can you say SMALL world?

Bragging Rights...

i just wanna say i love my husband. I am not sure exactly what has gotten into him... but every day for the past two weeks or so..... I have come home to a clean kitchen, dishes done, a tidyed up living room, and our bed made. ... Honestly, this never happens. Not that Huston never does it, but this truly never happens in our home. as in i usually never do it either, unless it gets really bad and i freak out cuz i get into cleaning mode. We never make our bed usually, and or.. usually leave dishes in the sink until the last possible one is gone. haha... effective??? NOT!... But, lately.. Huston has been this mighty cleaner and i wont complain. i love coming home to a clean house. This week he has been at the school every night until about 9-10pm or so studying, can you say busy week?? and yet i still come home to a clean house. It makes my heart melt every time, knowing that he is working so hard in school, and at home. Thanks HOney! you are the MAN!!I LOVE HIM SOOOO MUCH! ... It has been so helpful and really eased my load lately with working full time.

A visit from a friend...

Ok.. some of you might read this and say..i know exactly who she is talking about. haha.. but if you do, dont mention i blogged about it. If you dont know who i am talking about... sorry for the vagueness.

Today i was visited by someone that i have been very judgmental of in the past. She has her moments. She asked to come by, and i was nervous, for i didnt know why in the world she would want to come over to my house to talk to ME. but, as soon as she arrived, i wasnt nervous anymore. She came in, was very kind and loving. A side of her i had never seen, or wanted to see(thats what judgment does to ya) She simply just asked how i was doing, and we chatted for about 30 minutes about school, and i could tell she was genuinely interested in my life. She mentioned she came over because she noticed that i havent been visit taught in a long time, and she just wanted to see how i was doing(even though she is not my visiting teacher)...and you know what???...i appreciated that. The longer we talked, the more i felt a connection of a friendship, one i never desired to have nor ever thought would be there. I wont lie, my first thought was to judge this person. After she mentioned she was there for a small visiting teaching moment, i immediatly thought to myself..she just wants credit in heaven for doing this, its not real...but believe it or not i could feel the genuine spirit behind her heart. ...i dont feel like we will be best friends, but i did really enjoy her visit.

My thoughts after she left were.... I AM SUCH A BAD PERSON. I hope i never judge someone like that again, and i am so grateful for this humbling experience. It really meant alot to me that she cared enough for me to come over and say Hello. it was nice to chat. Thank you Heavenly Father for sending me an angel today!!

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day! I will blog later about our date!!

Dinner, cookie making/decorating, and conversation heart love letter writing to each other, and chick flick watching!! (the only Holiday i can convince Huston to watch them with me!...Thank you Valentines day!)

My birthday was a pretty big event this year so we decided not to go very big for Valentines day, but our gifts to each other are ..

1. Kilie- White rubber watch with rhinestones she has been wanting FOREVER
2. Huston- German mugs strait from Germany to be ordered soon!

Mostly, the best part about this holiday is a chance to remember why you love each other, and the time you get to spend together. Some people hate this holiday, but it is a chance to let someone/anyone you know, to know that you are thinking of them, and that you love them. .. Doesnt sound so bad to me???

SOOOO FUNNY....

ok.. pretty much died laughing watching this.... umm sorry to anyone this offends..but cmon. you have to admit there is a stereotype....??.... i just thought it was funny. these lyrics crack me up. ..good ol mormons. ..

Really???

I will repent for being judgmental and for being a critic..its unlike me. i try really hard to find a positive in everything... but really??....

C'mon Christina, mess up the national anthem??? how does any american manage to even do that. Not to mention its only the most watched football game in America. .. Wow...

And not to mention... THE SUCKIEST HALF TIME SHOW EVER!! .. Black Eyed Peas are terrible LIVE. Anyone could do what they did. They just screamed thier own lyrics, and proved they had no talent. .. good job. Although i am a fan of thier fun music, i do not wish to support thier crappy talent live on stage.ps. Fergie sounds like an old man that is about to die of lung cancer from smoking for years. .. just had to get that out there.

Dear Super Bowl, next year...Better choice of entertainment! PLEAASEEE!!

Birthday v/s Super Bowl???

For 22 years .... I have had to share my birthday with the FREAKING super bowl! haha. Its like the one football game i watch a year. Anyways... i dont really mind sharing. Feb. 6th, yesterday was my real day of birth. It was a wondeful relaxing day! I spoke with lots of family on the phone, and was visited by some friends. My friend Kelly even made me cookies, and she hates baking. So i really appreciated that! The cookies were BOMB too! Thanks Kelly!.

we are bad saints and ditched church.. 1. for my birthday. 2. for super bowl. ..dont judge. but we have 2pm church. that is an aweful time to have church.

Huston and I had a little celebration with some friends. The gilbert girls who we are loving more and more.. came over, along with Ben and Rachel(Awesome neighbors). We had them over to watch the super bowl, and cheered on the Packers. personally, we dont like either team. but dont like the steelers enough to root for them, so packers it was.

For food we did appetizors. and they were sooo filling! There was potato wedges, pita bread and spinach dip, Huston made awesome homemade queso for nachos, and also he made chicken taquitoes. They were SOOO GOOD!

When the super bowl was over, we had cake and ice cream. Cake was my favorite: white funfetti, with RAINBOW CHIP FROSTING(which we hadn't been able to find here since this year) Then, Huston and Ben disappeared to Ben and Rachel's house, and the girls and i painted nails while we watched Glee! It was super fun!. I loved having the girl time!

after Glee, Ben came back over with his Massage table(It's legit)(he does massage, learned it from his mom and sister) ...and Ben and Rachel suprised me with a massage. well.. Ben gave the massage, but it was from both of them. .. Almost 2 full hours. I was in heaven. It was so relaxing and i feel wonderful today. Thanks guys! That was a great suprise!

Huston is the man, he didnt let me do anything today to help. He made the cake, cooked, cleaned, did all the dishes, entertained, and was an amazing host. I love him so much, and am so grateful to him for making it such a special day. I truly felt so loved and special. Every girl needs that for a day! :) haha

Happy Birthday To Kilie .....

Happy Birthday to me! .. I turned 22 yesterday! and you can all be jealous of this years celebration...:)

Ummm... I feel like a spoiled brat. My husband made my birthday very special this year! He planned an all day event saturday...and it was a blast getting to spend every second with him. We started the morning out Parasailing. Which was BEAUTIFUL and FUN!! and AWESOME! We saw whales below us, and dolphins! it was soo amazing, i have never seen anything like it.

Then after that, we were able to jet-ski a small race track in the ocean for about 45 minutes. This was really fun, but more fun for Huston! ...I didnt mind though, we had a blast!

After that, Huston suprised me by taking me to the ZOO!! I was so excited and felt like i was 5 again. There is something entertaining about observing animals. Especially monkeys. Needless to say, we had a blast at the Zoo. I had been begging Huston to take me for a while now, so i was very suprised when he told me where we were headed next. :)

We ended the night eating dinner at a place called Tanaka of Tokyo. It was the best ..."THE BEST" food i have ever eaten. It was fun too. Its one of those places where they cook everything up on a grill right in front of you. Our chef had a great personality, was funny and did a great job!

Wow, now you see why i feel spoiled!??... Also, Friday night a package came in the mail from my family full of cards and candy. I was excited. How did a girl get to be so spoiled? I LOVE HUSTON SO MUCH! this birthday was much better than expected, and really special. Ill always remember turning 22! haha

Little did i know.. The birthday celebrating was not over... see above post for final celebrations!! :)
