Life changing decisions

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We have made the big switch from 2% milk to "fat free" in honor of our vow to start eating healthier.
This is life changing stuff. I am excited about all the recently purchased produce and fish in my fridge, however i am not too thrilled we payed $4. 35 a gallon for something that tastes like water. Its going to take some time, and when i say that i mean i will just have to pretend it tastes like milk, and get over it. haha

We will also be throwing in a lot of exercise into the mix. So wish us luck these next couple months as we really start to try to develop better and healthier habits!

Farmer's Market

The Farmer's Market comes to campus every other friday. (pay day friday)

I have officially decided, that I LOVE IT! I have been only one other time since the year and half we have been here.

This time i was able to find:

2 heads of broccoli
mushrooms
celery
Won Ton dough (ready made squares) -we made cream cheese ragoons that were great! (so cultural)
Chou Mein noodles
Sprouts (that are in Chou Mein)
2 Large tomatoes
1 very ripe pineapple
6 zucchini ( I love this stuff)
1 very large cinnamon roll-ready made (for a very hungry husband after his class)
a bag of potatoes
and
2 cucumbers

All for only $40. 

I know some of you are thinking that is expensive, but for Hawaii, its NOT! At the grocery store i would have spend twice as much on just those items.  Farmer's Market is great because produce is a FLAT rate, not "per pound." Sometimes though, the market can be hit and miss, you may not get that great of a price, however the fact i was able to this time, makes me a big fan already. We generally do not eat that much produce because it is so expensive, so this was a treat for us.

I will be utilizing this wonderful tool from NOW on. What a blessing!

Today...

I saw my husband in passing...after my first morning class.(It is rare to see him on campus) To me, it was almost how i felt when i did in the picture below:

I felt like we were in High School again. I do not know why, however I was SO excited to see him, that i had butterflies in my stomach. It was like that typical get nervous when you see your crush walking down the hallway type feeling. I don't know, maybe it was just his new haircut or something...

I am grateful for little experiences like these that remind me how much i love my husband. Not just the say "I love you" kind of love, but the "feel it deep down inside of you" kind of love.

Paid Vacation.

Well, lets just say... I got paid to go to Arizona for a week.

Which is a blessing. Huston and I were already feeling the TIGHT budget because i had not worked last week, however, I returned to work this week and i was approached by the HR lady, and she mentioned i had 10 days saved up of vacation days because my year anniversary with the company was May 12th. She asked if i wanted to use those paid vacation days for my recent time off. ??

My response was "I HAVE VACATION DAYS? WHATS THAT?" .... (not joking) ha ha ha

I was unaware i even received "paid vacation" days. In fact, i did not even know what it was because i have never experienced the same job for this long in the first place and not to mention i am only part time, so "paid vacation" was a benefit i assumed i did not receive.

AWESOME! Thank you Turtle Bay for always being so good to me. I cant tell you enough how perfect this job has been for me. They work with my schedule, it is low key, close to home, and now i can get PAID days off. YESS!!

"Unique"

So i have had a few conversations lately about how unique of a place BYU-H really is.

Think about it, When will we ever again in our lives have neighbors, not just one but ALL who are all members, and who are in our ward, and who are our FRIENDS!?  I didnt realize this until i had a conversation with my cousin who was recently married. They live in a remote area and have a much older and established ward. They feel very out of place and have no "couple" friends to hang out with. She asked me, Whats your ward like?? ...

I giggled and laughed before i realized how lucky Huston and I really are to be living here in a place full of people who are all STUDENTS just like we are, and full of good friends, and everyone is in the same boat as we are. We have met the most amazing people who i know will be lifelong friends. What a great place. We are very thankful for what we are experiencing, even though i have tendency to complain about it alot, and refer to this place as the "rock." I know when its all said and done, we will both be very sad to leave this place.

Thank you to those who have truly made the "rock" feel more at home to us! We have definately developed our own little "Ohana" here in Hawaii, even though most of them have left us already, we still appreciate the friendship and love!
