BISCUITS AND GRAVVYY

I wish I had this recipe. Maybe someday my mom will give it to me, but its sort of a secret recipe that has been in our family for years. Theses are not just any biscuits and gravy they are the best!! Maybe I'm a little biased...

I can't decide if i like these biscuits because they are so good, or its because there are soo many memories enthralled in taking that first bite. Yes people, the taste and smell takes me back to those moments where the entire Gillespie family would re-unite each year and eat the most wonderful food, play the most wonderful games, fight, love, cry, get DIRT-y, go fishing, and spend a full 3 days together. Why don't we do that anymore??????? Its the most amazing thing when 2 parents 9 children and over 60 grandkids and great grandkids can gather in one place and spend that much time together.

Memories-(Don't judge my family)
1. Ketchup and Mustard fight in the kitchen(outside, campin kitchen) between all siblings
2. Playing from dusk till dawn with all my cousins and smelling pretty nasty but never wanting to take a bath because i loved playing so hard. getting up the next day and doing it all over again.
3. playing the quarter game in the middle of the street with all my uncles and crying because i never won all the quarters and dad and mom only gave us so many to play with.
4. PiƱata craziness
5. Karaoke every night and Elvis always making an appearance
6. Packing at least 30 cousins to a fishing trip at a place where it was guaranteed to catch unlimited amounts of fish, and catching toads, minnows, snakes and all kinds of critters. This was back when i was not a "girl" to my cousins. Somewhere in the teen years i was not quite as cool as i used to be for some reason
7. Playing night games
8. Sleeping in tents in the backyard
9. My uncle riding a horse into the kitchen and scaring the SH** out of my grandma
10. Stealing dough to the biscuits with my grandpa. The dough to those biscuits is BOMB. I wish i had the picture, but there is a picture of my cousin danny and I covered head to toe in flour from "helping" grandpa, but really the area around our mouths was pure evidence of what we were really doing
11. Dutch oven cooking. Steak, biscuits and gravy, peach kobbler....Be jealous.
12. camp fires and endless marshmallow roastings

Man o Man, I hope someday my kids get to experience something similar. That was the time of my life. And i can remember holding at least 5 babies each year. All of which those babies are now 16-17 years old. Maybe some of you family members who read this blog will remember too, and get your rears in gear planning another one.

These biscuits and gravy carry the most wonderful memories and ill never forget my Grandpa Verl. Thanks for leaving something on this earth for us to enjoy from you. Missin' You Grandpa!

Siri...

I may or may not regret letting my husband get the new I phone.

Its fantastic and I want one too. However my upgrade is not for another 6 months, but seeing how we waited 31/2 hours in the Apple store to get this phone to finally activate for Huston, Apple said they would see what they could do for us. So im banking on them calling me sometime this week telling me I can have one too.

We'll see....

Anywho... technology is soo advanced its scary.

Huston said to the phone "Siri, will you marry me?"

The phone says... "Lets just be friends ok?"

Huston says "Ok"

Siri says "Im ok if you are ok!"

See what i mean by scary!?? ...

Ps. He loves it. And Siri may become his new girlfriend. He stayed up so late playing with her last night while i layed in bed alone. No cuddles for me until this new phase wears off i guess. I may or may not be jealous of a PHONE. haha

At least i downloaded the Pinterest free app on his phone on the way home from town, for when I get bored, and when he is actually ready to share. I dont think he knows I did that yet.. so lets not tell him!

Lucky Day

This morning i had a weird message on my phone from the bank. I was nervous.. thinking about identity theft, overdraft, anything... The possibilities were endless. I had no idea what they would want. They almost NEVER call...

I called the lady back, and she says to me.. "Kilie, You are the winner of a $300 gift card to Apple." Im like WHAT?? haha She asked me if i remembered entering the drawing, and my response was nope! Haha.

Oh well! Looks like its my LUCKY DAY... Now if only this kind of luck could rub off on my ovaries.

Maybe now I can get the iPhone I just posted about.

Im pretty giddy, and excited. This like NEVER happens to me. I never win anything.

Wish List

Last night we played around in a Verizon store for a little bit with the new Iphone 4S.

Verdict: We want it.

Huston could probably hold out for the 5, however I dont care to be a little bit behind. I think the 4S would suit me great for a few years.

Huston was playing with the new capabilities. Our favorite is that you can speak to the phone, and it does what you tell it to. Huston decided to send a message to himself from the I phone in the store and said verbally to the phone:

" I am using the new Iphone 4S and it is awesome, I really want one!"

The Iphone 4S sent the following message to Huston's phone:

" I am using the new Iphone 4 ASS and it is awesome, I really want one!"
Pretty accurate huh?

Not bad! We got a pretty good laugh at that, and decided it was pretty much worth getting! :) Hopefully our Christmas to each other or something.

Thankful Sunday

A good friend of mine does a thankful post every thursday. She calls it "Thankful Thursday"
Im a little early in the week for it to be Thursday, but just wanted to state a few things I am thankful for.

-My parents/family- My mom and dad do so much to help us out, and they do it willingly. They send us fun packages, have helped us out financially when needed, payed to fly us home, gave us our dream wedding, and have encouraged us to finish our education even if it means to do it a million miles away. I am also grateful for my siblings. Lately I have really been missing my relationship with them. I am mostly grateful that my family, is MINE forever. They are important to me because they understand me and they love me. I am grateful for thier relationships, and examples. Its amazing how much we can learn from our own families, which is why God gave us them!

-Education- I am grateful that I grew up. Ok, not literally "grew-up"  but more like matured, beacuse when I was 18 years old, I hated school. I actually never wanted to go back. I always assumed after marraige we would have kids and start a new stage of life, but God had a different plan for me. I now know how important it is to be educated in today's society, and am currently extremely motivated to obtain a Master's degree. I am grateful to be here at BYU-H and have learned the value of recieving an education and pursued it. It is a big accomplishment to graduate with a college degree. Oh and PS. Huston and I are "hopefully" crossing our fingers...if everything goes as planned this last year of school, and we dont lose our grants...we just may be.. graduating DEBT free, which is an even bigger accomplishment.
FYI graduation is actually marked on a calender. December 15, 2012

Husband- I know, I know.. the cliche answer, but seriously how could one not be eternally greatful for the best friend they ever had? The most amazing, kind, patient, caring, supportive, and handsome person I have ever known? Its true. I am greatful to be blessed with such a wonderful spouse. He is funny, wakes up happy every morning, is patient with me, keeps us on our toes, thinks that the world is going to end if you spend a penny, adventurous, and loving. I have loved getting to know him more and more, and watching our lives change each year we are married. I am mostly grateful for his virtue of patience, one that I do not posess. He balances me out, thats for sure. I am also grateful for all the time we get to spend together, and how he always puts me first on his schedule. This weekend he had two HUGE tests. He was really stressed, but I really needed time to spend with him because we both had busy weeks and barely saw each and it is important to me that we get TIME together. In fact, that is my love language. Quality Time. If you have not read the 5 Languages of Love, I highly recommend it. It helped us understand each other 100 times better. Anyways, Huston planned out his tests perfectly so that he could spend time with me. Instead of taking both of them Friday and not seeing me at all that day or night, he only focused on one test friday, and took the other on Saturday. He even got up early Saturday morning instead of sleeping in, before he had to go to work..to work on his test. All so that, WE could have another evening together. End result- 2 weekend evenings together, and Best Husband Ever award goes to Huston. I am grateful for him, and the effort he gives our marraige. Its always 110%.

a Job- I complain about my job more than I should because it is really hard to WORK while being in school. I am grateful for my job. Even though I have to work on the Sabbath, my job has provided for our family and been more than understanding with my school schedule changes each semester. It pays exactly enough for us to support ourselves and is perfect for me. I am also more than grateful for my husband's job. We never actually see a real paycheck, but physically live in a perfect little apartment for free because of his job, and that is a major blessing.

Free Time- For the first time in two years.. Huston and my schedules are just the ooposite of each other. Which means less time together. Its unfortunate, but I have taken that free time lately to do alot of things. I am learning that I actually love this time that I have to myself each evening, and I look forward to it. Lately my vice has been crafting, but thats not always feasable so I read, play loud music, catch up on my shows that Huston hates to watch, do some homework, bake or cook more often, maybe even exercise, or blog, usually blogging wins that battle though. Needless to say its been fun to have a little time to myself and really do what I want to do. Not that Huston never does those things with me, but i am just enjoying the free time I have had lately. Its nice to feel like I was able to get something done, ya know? that Accomplished feeling? even if it is for recreational purposes!

-I think right now... thats enough content to read and grattitude. But seriously...

Count your many blessings!! See how much better it makes you feel :)

a phase...

Maybe its just a phase.. and call me crazy... but

Im a little obsesessed with candles lately. I burn them every night and love how my house smells. It just makes our little house a HOME. My pumpkin candle is almost empty and I just baught another one that smells like a combination of Christmas and fall. the best of both worlds.

However, even though i have a new large candle, im still really tempted to take advantage of this awesome deal.at Bath and Body Works.Oh christmas candles...

Im thinking about peppermint and evergreen, which is a pine scent. Oh and they even have a firewood scent..Yikes! I cant decide.

Just so you people understand how much I like burning candles, I will tell you that I have two candles that dont even have a scent anymore that I still burn just for the effect of candlelight in our house. Ha! Oh the beauty of living in such a small space. I was just thinking last night, how in the world am I supposed to burn candles in every room of an actual house, when we have one?

My parents are the greatest and sent me two new scentsy scents. Which i literally planned on ordering this week, and now i dont have have to. What im trying to get at is that I think I am set on "scents" for the home for at least 2 months (hopefully, lol)

Mom's and Dad's are the greatest. They also sent us some Halloween candy, and some fall/halloween decor, along with the shorts I previously mentioned.

It made my day!
